The Welsummer Thread!!!!

I have 18 eggs on day 4 in the incubator right now plus another 6 live chicks due to be here on the 1st. If I have a decent hatch I should end up with somewhere around 25 chickens. What happened???? I was only looking to have 6 when I started!

Cloverleaf- hope you have better luck with JamesA's eggs. I haven't seen his wellies, but he always gets the best lines of every breed.

This is my first year for having Welsummer's and I LOVE THEM!!! What beautiful birds and beautiful eggs. Just got my first incubator and i am going to put my first batch in this coming Sunday. Will put Welsummer's and Light Sussex's in it. CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Thanks!!! I am very nervous about this first hatch. This is my first time using an incubator! I usually let the mamma hen do all the work. So I have been reading everything I can on temperature and humidity............................hope I get it right

Welsummer's are one of the breeds I've decided to keep around. I'll be getting more on the 1st like MIlarry. ( I think from the same place too.

) I plan to hatch out some more later on, but I love them. They love to free range which is how my property is set up. They don't eat a lot of feed, and are friendly, but leary.

I did a test hatch about 6 weeks ago. It went well. They will be welsummer/BCM or Olive egger crosses. So far, I have some gorgeous hens. Especially, the olive egger crosses. I think I have two boys in the ones from BCM cross, but they are feathering out nicely. They are handsome

Yea I am pretty sure we are getting chicks from the same place. Be nice to have some chicks around again. I like the chirping.

This is day 19 for my eggs!

After candling I have 10 welsummer eggs in there. Only one candled clear and the rest look to have developed good before lockdown. Now I am just waiting!!!
