The Welsummer Thread!!!!

These 2 came from my dutch line. I was surprised how light they are compared to the others I hatched out couple weeks ago

Just picked up my first wellies today. Had been looking at eggs from various breeders, and looked at hatchery's then found on cl 2 roos and 2 hens almost a year old, and 8 chicks! It turned out to be 2 roos and three hens, I took them all and the babies (at a steal of a price ) the hens are laying, dark eggs I saw one that was speckeled. They got eggs off of ebay to hatch, not sure which breeder they came from. I will post pics in a day or two, but a question on the roo's, they are huge birds, they have different numbers of spikes on thier combs, what is the correct number for welsummers?

Good to know one has five and the other looks to have seven, so I figured the good number would be 6. I will post pictures of both and get some opinions on which is better on all other points.
Thanks!

OK, my chickies are hitting the 5 week mark and looking more and more like chickens. The differences between the RIReds and what I think are Wellies are so obvious now I am embarrassed I ever thought they were the same breed. It appears that both RIR are boys but I think one of the suspected Wellies is a girl. I was hoping y'all could give the thumbs up/down on sex and breed at this point.

She is very flighty so it is difficult to get pictures. She also spent the entire time peeping crazy loud trying to get back into the box with the others.

She usually does not stand anywhere near this upright - she is on the verge of jumping off the table in these pictures.

Thanks all.
