The Welsummer Thread!!!!

All of your chickens are so beautiful...I can't wait until mine grow up a little more. I'm new to Welsummers, but I am starting to see how great they are! I currently have four, two boys and two girls, that came from BYC member cpartist and I think they're going to be beautiful!

Here's a shot of their first time freeranging in the back yard. My Chihuahua and I were way too stressed out, worrying about them while they were out!

I am going to be rehoming one of these guys in a couple of weeks since I only want to keep one rooster with my flock. I would love to keep them all.

i am a newbie to chickens and i have two wellie pullets and one roo that are around 3 months. I have two questions. Why hasn't Rusty started crowing yet and when will his colors start to show? right now, he just sorta the same color all over, or will he just not have all the orange and deep rust colors....do i need to face the facts that i got an ugly roo?

Mom~

I usually never hear a peep out of my boys until around 4 mos or more, but I know others birds have started earlier. He'll be crowing and singing the egg song with the girls before you know it!

He can still change in colors....but I would expect that by this time he would have an almost completely black chest and you should be seeing the beginnings of some different colors going on. Can you post a photo?

I had to go back and look at my pictures. The boys change a lot between 6 weeks and 12 weeks.

Here's my rooster at 6 weeks:
