The Welsummer Thread!!!!

I don't think you would have to worry about genetic diversity for a good while. If you can have a couple of pairs, you are good to go for a good while.

With the Grisham and Hall lines, I have seen this over and over in some Welsummer flocks throughout the country. And they have been consisent in the quality.

The only hitch I would have with mine is my CW hen over that cross. I'd take my chances and see what kind of offsprings she will produce. If it is not the right "nick" I would just keep trying with the grandkids.

So if I ordered another batch of eggs from you, chances are I would still get some genetic diversity?

get their special treat

So what is the special treat?

You would not have to worry about divesity for a while. I just ordered in some eggs of the same lines to add more of each to the flock. They arent new bloodlines, the same ones, just different more select birds.

The ones you have now from me, are of the same bloodlines and quality that this years birds are going to be from!!!

I wouldnt see an issue with that breeding either - it is a well established and proven line.

I am uploading some pics now of some eggs, and roosters that I took today with my moms camera, I left mine at my house - so here I go with her camera and her lap-top to upload some pics for your viewing pleasures. Its taking some time to download pics, so they might not get on until tonight when I am off work, and stop by my parents again before heading home.

Here are some pics that I took today!!!

Eggs -

One of my up and coming roosters for breeding -

I really like this rooster, but he is still young, and quite small, if he does not fill out, he wont make the breeding pen! :-(

(EDITED NOTE: if you click on the pics, they will be viewable in bigger size)

CONGRATS!!! Are these chicks out of the birds that you hatched from my eggs?

nate

The eggs are from HappyMtn's hen and one of the boys we hatched from your eggs is the daddy! So I guess yes!

It is going to be very interesting how the cross will turn out......take pictures as they're growing.
