OK folks with the response from this gentleman, here is his email: About the White Welsummers.........................
hi, Robin! im very glad to hear from you! my name is jerry malone i live in greene county tn. i will send you some good pics via your email if you like. i need to get a good camera those were taken by cell phone. these chicks were ordered from a local store here F&M farm supply which ordered from ideal hatcheries in 1998-99 my friend roger vaughn is the breed founder he has kept these since then pure. the original chickens were all welsummer color. in 2006-07 the hens started throwing a white chick every now and then so he kept the white ones and bred them back resulting in whites every time. we are under the impression they are a sport as the white peacook which took many years to happen. i am excited that we are the only 2 people that have these here and we continue to raise them and keep them a pure stock, even if others arent that excited, we are. harsh weather last year and raccoons took a toll on our numbers but we still have about 20 young hens that we are raising from and should have 100 or so this fall. i am only going to sell this lot of eggs to see how interested people would be in owning these rare chicks and will be selling some more when the flock gets large enough to keep up with what i hope a demand for a novelty breed . i would like also info how to claim and name this stock or register for claim if you could help we would deeply appreciate it. sincerely jerry malone
So there you have it! The ball is in your court if you want to buy White Welsummers!
