I've always thought that was a sign of fertility/maturity in roos. My Barnevelder roos all get that on their legs when they are good to go.
 
Some pics of my Pink Wellies... 6/10 hatched so far. I'm on day 22 but I hope more will follow. Anyone care to sex these for me? From what I've read it looks like quite a few gals???????????
