I was wondering if anyone else has this issue with their Welsummers. I have two flocks, a flock of 15 Welsummers and a flock of about 40 mostly black Javas. My Wellies are the only ones I've had to put pinless peepers on because they seem to enjoy pulling out tail feathers when they are on the roosts. As chicks they would sometimes fixate on a particular feather on another chick and pluck and pluck until they got it out. The adult Welsummers don't seem to have this problem, only the young birds. They need to feather out so we can take these birds to the fair.

Is my flock just a bit weird, or have you guys noticed it, too?

I'm planning on taking off the peepers in a few weeks, once the habit is broken.

While I love the dark eggs I also enjoy the heavily splotched eggs. I had a printer once that did the same thing turned out that it was a plugged inkjet.

Vanalpaca came to the Michigan Chickenstock I was able to get 14 welsummers that hatched on the 21st and 22nd. Unfortunately when I was loading this morning I must of had a senior moment and forget the eggs I was supposed to bring for her. In my defense it wasn't a total memory blackout, I did remember them but not until we were 45 miles from home. I'm a firm believer in "things happen for a reason". Bonnie decided to swing by my place on her way home which allowed me to spend more time visiting with her than Chickenstock had allowed.
