You sure he's a wellie? He doesn't look like a wellie, but the picture with him in the shade is hard to see. His saddle feathers look too burgandy for a wellie, comb looks wrong too.
Another Moose/Cleo baby - she's not as dark as her sister, but her legs are REALLY yellow.
Kim - here's your girls at 33 weeks. This one is the dark one that is laying.
This one is not as dark but she's really pretty - and is still holding out on me egg wise. (you can see the chunk missing out of Moose's hackle feathers from his molting
hey everyone - sry for the prolonged absence! A lot of reading to catch up on for the thread! Glad to see alot of new people participating.
I hate this time of year, it so gloomy and the chickens are molting.
Hey all... Is it uncommon for a 32 week old to do some molting? I have 2 Wellies from Kim's eggs. One is laying and is beautiful! The other has not started laying yet and has recently began losing some of her hackle feathers on the back of her neck. It also looks as though she has lost a few tail feathers...

I don't know, but one of my pullets that hatched 1/1/11 quit laying. (from my own flock, not Kim's) I don't see her losing any feathers, but I have had 9 month old pullets go through minor molts before.
I am still waiting on one of Kim's girls to start laying - she's 33 weeks. (the last picture in my post above)
What's up with these girls not laying? They sure are beautiful though! I have seen some youngsters molt around this age, I had a Wellie girl that started laying right on time around 20 or so weeks, gave me eggs for about 3-4 weeks then BAMM...molted. I don't know whats up with these scraggler girls you and Steve have but they sure do need to get their groove on! Their eggs better be well worth the wait I'm tellin ya.
Risa~ You got Wellies from me didn't you? Or was that Marans? I can't remember sorry! Are they laying yet?
