The Welsummer Thread!!!!

You're welcome!

Diane, I took a good look athe Wellies and NO, I don't have a roo. But they are beeeeeee u a fullllllll! Yellow legs galore! I see consisency in there too. Line them all up and you can not tell them apart! That is how 'carbon copied" you can get on those chicks!

There are five Wellies and five Ameraucanas. I see a roo or two in the Ameraucanas and someone would LOVe to have a roo! Where did the Ameraucanas came from? I am thinking John Blehm........

Made note on FB.....submit your votes, by private message me or Nate...........

One person so far wanted the secretary/treasurer position, would be Trish Dusil.....

Anyone else?

They were all Lavender or Lavender split right? (silver and black chicks) These are from Happymtn. She basically has her own line since she has been working on these for 4 years. There is a black split roo in the pen that is Shaffer lines from Lamike. Sorry about the roos on them, they can only be sexed by vent (or I guess wing tips at 2 days) I had no idea. I'm glad I got it right on the Wellies though!

Hopefully when I put eggs in the incubator they realize that I'm expecting then to all be pullets.

LMAO.............. I think I expected that with my EE's and low and behold it came back to bite me in the butt, I think I have all boys,,,,,,,,,,,,,, so don't wish too hard.......LOL

Hi all
My Welsummers are my favorite! One issue however, they never go into their coop at night. They will be out in their yard in the dark. I have to herd them inside every night or they would stay out hunting bugs! Anyone else have this issue?

Here is the Wellie chick in question that I had posted - I have two that look pretty much identical. And it definitely is a cockerel as today at 9 weeks of age he crowed. It was a squeeky gate sound - but definite crow. I am certain that his brother will start to crow shortly - however he's a bit more shy. However, if the other Wellie does in fact turn out to be a pullet - I will let you know.

Here's a more recent pic of the Wellie cockerel at 8 weeks old.

At 6 weeks old.

Does it look anything like this 6 week old? If so - congratulations it's a boy!
