Hi Folks! Thought I'd make a quick post just to say I'm still alive and that I've got a start on the photo project I mentioned some time back. Thus far I have about 20 pics in a folder on my computer called "Day Olds" and about 20 pics in a folder called "1 Week Olds". I have tried to get a front on, a from the side, and a from the top view so that folks can see the chicks at various angles. Here is just a small sample of each:

The top pic is the Day Olds and the bottom is a week later. I'm finding an effort has to be made for me to take these pics because, believe it or not, those potlickers won't stand and pose for me so it takes me about a half hour just to get about 30 pics of which I can sort thru to get a few good ones. My plan is to create weekly albums that hold 15-20 good pics from different angles and then put them on my website once I get that built. That way folks can go there for a reference when they have a question about the age or sex of their chicks/birds.

Btw, on a side note, for the person who got the lighter colored eggs and then the birds were hatching darker ones a week later, just remember the genetics are inside that egg. So if they're laying a darker egg normally, they will for you too. If I get a chance, I'll take some pics of my eggs now and repost those too.

God Bless,

Tailfeathers, That's a great project. I have spent many an hour looking for photos of English Orpingtons wishing for the very thing you are putting together. Wellie owners are going to LOVE having those photos.
Thanks for taking this project on.

Project Wellie broody was in full force today. Had to build a ramp that her babies can hopefully use. I misjudged the rise/run a bit, but I think it will still work. I wanted something removable for cleaning the coop. I had some technical difficulties with the hook portion - it's not perfect, but it should work. I purposely waited until DH was out of town so he wouldn't whine about me using his power tools.

And the broody:

Royce! I thought you got hauled away by the Ax Men!

No. Probably more like the Tax Man!

Just busier than a one-armed paper hanger. Between trying to make some money in a business that has gone six-months again without making a dime and hatching out a ton of eggs, I barely have a spare moment to quickly scan the different threads and posts I follow. After that, there isn't much time left for anything.

God Bless,

You're welcome and I'm glad I could be some help to others. Each folder should contain enough different angles that one will be able to distinguish features like the headcap, eye-liners, rate of feathering, etc.

God Bless,
