Mine never start before 24 weeks and I've had 1 girl go 11 months before she started laying. (but that's pretty rare)

Most of mine start between 24 and 30 weeks.

So far (for me)..the Welsummer chicks seem to be the prettiest. Of course, I haven't had a bunch of chick experience yet.

I posted this in the facebook group, but I think its great to see how vigorous Welsummers are compared to some other breeds. The Ameraucana was born May 31, the Wellie born this morning

I took the chance and let my welsummer broody out yesterday afternoon with her chick. (her previous chick was killed by one of the hens the 2nd day) I segregated her and gave her some eggs from under another broody. She's looking raggedy because she ended up sitting for 2 months. Her new chick (from faykokowv) is 9 days old now. (she hatched 2 but one ruptured it's yolk sac hatching and it died)

I was gone most of the day and I was super worried about the chick with the flock.
