The Welsummer Thread!!!!

I have two Wellies that are very sweet, but skittish: Laverne and Shirley :)

They are kinda talkative, but at this point (8 weeks) honk quietly a little like geese more than anything else! LOL

HAHA! we just named our two guineas, Lenny and Squiggy.

I noticed our Wellie girls LOVE to talk to us. We have one, Twist (has a twist in her comb), who comes over and talks and talks to us. She also jumps up on my lap to relax at times. My DH has fallen in love with them and I fell in love when they were first born. They are the prettiest days olds. Can't wait to get an egg.

wanted to add that our wellies are 15 weeks old, but have been talking to us and friendly since they were 8 weeks old or so.

I have a wellsummer cockerel and hen.The cockerels tail goes all the way over his back to his neck!!
I also have a tiny wellsummer colour one that is the size of a pidgeon. I am not sure if she is a wellsummer or not so I thought I would post a pic anyway. She sits on our knee to watch TV and goes to sleep x

That is not good...haha the person who sold them to me lied then.
Is there any way to check..physically? (by feeling around) lol
I get to share my favorite fun chickens fact.... Roosters don't have a penis, so no nothing to feel.

how old were they when the person sold them to you? it could have been an honest mistake. if they were using coloring to sex.. its not 100% accurate.

Are they crowing yet?

Princessmalon..........By that age they should have saddle feathers. But their coloring screams rooster.

Suebgbr...........your little one is not a wellie. Wellies don't have white earlobes.

Oh yes, wellies are very talkative. And when they sing the egg song, they do their best to make sure the whole world hears it.

There is no other egg song, IMO, like that of the Wellie egg song,

and let me tell you, it is not the same, not having a Wellie rooster here to sing along with the girls.

I love most that the roosters sing along.

My Odin was great at singing ..sometimes while out doing chores, I would hear him start the singing and then the girl in the nest box would join in.
