The West Memphis Three.... Will Be Freed

Is this the same case that Johnny Depp took a personal interest in? I just watched that on ID channel a couple of weeks ago . . .sad deal, and the one step dad gave me a "feeling" and if I remember right, his ex wife, mother of the boy who was convicted , said things about him that made you think something wasn't right too . . .I feel so sorry for them, because it will be so hard to get back into society and become functional people. That is a long time to be locked up with no idea of what has really been going on in this crazy world. Sad deal, and if they don't research that some more, to give those poor parents peace and to completely and absolutely clear those three, shame on them.

These kids looked different. The "confession" got most of the facts completely wrong, and was later recanted. Evidently, the guy who "confessed" had an IQ of under 80 and had been interrogated over 8 hours....

I haven't followed this case, but other than a recanted confession, it seemed the police had little to implicate the three people who were charged.

In a court room the better debater doesn't always win. Sometimes all it takes is people with an agenda and the willingness to lie. Look up Tulia, TX. to see how it can work completely wrong.

OK, I NEVER chime in posts that are not about chickens, but, this is a subject that has affected my family. I absolutely do not want to offend any of you, I don't know any of you personally but I do think of my chicken chat friends as extended family. I, and my family, was very close to this situation when it occured in '93 and I have to confess I do think these men were guilty. I also find it strange that, after almost 18 years and within 6 months of a new trial, that these defendants' lawyers come up with a plan to plea deal and put an end to this case. I believe, if I were innocent, I would want that trial and the opportunity to clear my name. I certainly know that it is hard to believe these three men could do something like they were accused of, but, Damien was in a very bad place at this time in his life and, in my opinion, capable of it. I HATE, HATE, HATE thinking that of anyone, especially someone you are, at least, aquainted with. Please, do not take offense to my "ramblings" but many people have formed opinions from movies, books, or the wishes of celebrities and refuse to accept the idea that, no matter how hard it is to accept, sometimes people are capable of horrible things. Now I am very conflicted about their release. Yes they have paid half their life for this crime, but three little boys paid ALL their lives. I truly hope that these three men can get on with their lives and become good, productive citizens, but they are going to have a lot to "catch up" on after being in prison all these years. Again, I am sorry if I have offended, but these are my feelings on this subject.

I dissagree, but accept your opinion. That's all we have right now is opinions.

I agree with you Clayhill and am sorry you had to be close such a horrific thing. Your point of not admitting it is what I was saying. I think if I were innocent I would never give up saying so and would certainly never admit I was guilty of something so awful. And it bothers me that none of the three were said to be remorseful but on the contary were defiant about it. I guess we will never know and hopefully they and their God can work things out. But your right, the three little boys are the ones that lost everything. The attention should immediately leave the trhee bad guys and focus on the the victims. And if all these supporters are so worried about the perpertraters innocents then help find out who really did it.
