THE "WHAT DO I DO WITH ALL THESE EGGS" CHAT THREAD!

There's a youtuber, look him up - 50 Ducks in a Hot Tub - what this blessing of a human being does is raise ducks and donates the eggs in massive amounts to local food banks. He IS in Canada, and may not be required to have certain certifications and what not we might be required to do to do such a thing, but it's worth looking into! You could seriously help your community a ton. google local food banks and call up all your local churches and schools and find out who has programs and what is required if anything to donate the eggs to them. And what I'm gonna do is consult my neighbors and ask them for all their spent cardboard egg cartons (be sure to mark out the grading info, brand, and dates to protect yourself legally) and definitely research safe egg processing practices. It's very different between the US and say Britain.. that's a whole different debate but just know the laws where you live, you could really help people by donating though and that youtuber is really wonderful so check him out if you ever mess with the website for sure!

Also I'm wanting facts and opinions on the different ways to go about storing and cleaning eggs. I'm not anywhere near that yet but I'd like to know. I know many Europeans, possibly most? Do not refrigerate theirs which has partly to do with them not going through the same washing routine. In their defense I'll say most US eggs sold in stores taste down right spoiled or close thanks to de regulation. I'm just curious how ya'll all store your eggs in the first place cause I would like to donate what my family doesn't consume.

:thumbsup
I have my eggs in the fridge!

paint them white LOL. No seriously though, for someone that doesn't like brown eggs, if you have ducks their eggs are white USUALLY idk for all breeds, and are from what i've researched healthier! So you could give her those and as she attunes to the richness I bet she would start to like the brown ones better.

Yeah, I should try that!
For Easter, I dyed my brown eggs...
She said, "Pretty! But there really brown."
I still don't know how she knew.

Yup... She gave them to my uncle!

If I made her a egg salad, she wouldn't know! ;)

There ya go! potatoes and cucumbers are pretty easy to ya know, the potatoes you just toss outside somewhere til they get sprouts then cut em up accordingly, then plant em, and the cucumbers the best luck i've had is with the seed starter trays and transplanting somehwere semi shady although they advise otherwise (im in central arkansas) and they love it and are growing good. from there if you get some dill (haven't grown yet D:) and some garlics and onions and salt, etc, you can naturally ferment your own pickles :D then use the leftover brine for boiled eggs for the eggs for the potato salad and your brand new potatoes for it too, and use heavy cream in place of milk for extra deliciousness! Wait til shes done eating to tell her yeah that yummnness, that was brown eggs XD How I converted my father. Now he gripes when I buy white eggs even from a local farmer lol!

That is funny! :lau
Thanks for the recipe! :p
I grow the potatoes and cucumbers,
I want to try pickling this year. :D

I can't wait to see how they grow this year,
my Dad and I are tilling the gardens this week. :fl

the ice cream recipe i use uses 8 egg yolks (we use the whites in ramen, soup, fried rice, whatever pretty quickly) and the pound cake recipe i use has 5 eggs in it. it's not DOZENS or anything but the ice cream is a good way to freeze the eggs and the pound cake keeps pretty well at room temp.

Here are some of my ideas!!!

1. Make ice cream!
2. Make French toast! ( that calls for quite a few eggs)
3. play egg relay races!
4 scramble or hard boil the eggs, they make great chicken treats!
5. Give them to your neighbors/friends (They'll love you for it);)
