The whole flock die

My landlord had about 30 chickens and when I got home today from work they was all dead except for one they all had white foamy liquid coming out of there beak and I'm just really wondering what happened can any body help

Pictures of the birds and set up would help. This immediately to me sounds like they drowned/chocked on something or ate something poisonous.

What is their diet?
