Well, tomorrow around 11:30 am, I'll be well knocked out and having a molar surgically removed. I plan on having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have.

I've only been under anesthesia once before, and that was some 38 years ago, so I have no memory of it. I'm kind of anxious about it, but my mom and others have told me it's no big deal. Mom says I'll just slide into a nice nap, then wake up wondering where the dump truck is that just hit me. I told her I hope she doesn't have to pour me back into the truck to take me home.

So, after all is said and done, I won't be around for at least 24 hrs., probably sleeping off some really nice drugs.

Another anxiety to add to this: my son just got his driver's license last week, so he'll be taking himself and his sister to school in the morning with MY car. I won't be in any condition to pick them up from school, so it's just more convienent to let him take it. He has to work with his dad anyway, so it's not like he'll be running the roads. That still doesn't make me feel any less nervous! Don't worry, he's got plenty of driving time under his belt, and he's a good driver, but STILL!

I'll be praying for you Bliss. As a 16 year old new driver, I know just how nervous parents get when their kids start driving. I'm sure that he will be just fine! Let us know how it went whenever the little monkeys stop flying around your head!!

Don't worry yourself too much, studies have shown the greater patient anxiety prior to surgical procedures, the longer the recovery time. Relax and take it in stride.

As for the car, I wouldn't worry too much. I went though the make parents nervious stage and left their car with just worn breaks and warped rotors. :p Luckily, my current car can be driven the way I drive. LOL

Sit back and be glad your teeth have lasted so long! I foresee much teeth work in my own mouth, shoot, have 10 teeth repaired and filled on multiple sides, almost no enamel, and they say my wisdom teeth are going to have to go because they are coming in and scrunching up the rest of my teeth. I haven't even had my full set of adult teeth for a decade yet! You're lucky!

Jeez Bliss, im under the same belt you are, I have to get braces (Yuck

) on the top and bottom of my mouth, and they have to cut my gums and put a bar in my gums and then they put wax on where they cut my gums, I am hoping they give me a choice to get anethstia (sp) Because its goint to hurt like #*$& and im going to be eating soup for the next week or so after I get them, this sucks sooo bad! and the orto said they will be on for 24-25 MONTHS! WAHHHH! WHY ME

I should have gotten braces when I was a teen, but my parents couldn't afford them. I do have fillings in both sides of my top and bottom molars, and one incisor with a composite filling in the front. I've also had both my top and bottom wisdom teeth pulled. Needless to say, the dentist doesn't scare me. I think what is scaring me is not being awake through the procedure, but according to my mom, I'll be glad to be out. She's had all her teeth pulled, so I'm inclined to believe her.

Actually bliss,
being "put to sleep" is the best sleep you'll ever have.

My son had his tonsils out a few years ago, they put the mask on his face, told him to count backwards from 3.
He said he hardly remembers 2.

Best of luck Bliss !!!

When I had to have my wisdom teeth surgically removed I paid extra to be knocked out ...I didn't have any insurance. At the time I only had the two that were hurting taken out because it was very expensive.

I woke up mid way with the dentist on top of me sawing in my mouth...not pretty. I think he was a butcher anyway, but my dentist recommended him so I went. He split my lip in two places and sewed the gums to the inside of my cheeks on both sides.

Then years later I decided to have my tubes tied. I woke up mid way thru that too. Let me tell ya it's not fun and it took them a while before they notice guess what the patient is awake and in pain.........

When it came time to have my hysterectomy I had a little chit chat with the anesthetist. I explained my past history and told him that under no circumstances did I want to wake up early. He promised me it would not happen. Thankfully he was right!!!!!!

They gave me versed ...a wonderful drug. If I could have that attached to a pump IV i could forget my life...lol. But the last thing I recall is sitting naked on the operating table discussing my tattoos with a handful of people......lol.

Somehow I dont think all the stories of waking up in the middle of the procedure were extraordinarily helpful or soothing to Bliss...

No offence of course, just my thoughts...
