What are these bad boys? They are all over the town of Yuba City in the central valley, and have naturalized heavily on the south side of town.

Im sure they are a mix of some kind but here are the most common types I could find. Hens generally come in two colors, black and gold/buff with the males being red w the classic rooster dark green sickles. Chicks are buff and black as well. American game fowl? Jungle fowl? Leghorns? What do we got??

Are you considering catching a few and raising in you backyard???
Nice looking chickens. Feral chickens tend to be healthy, since only the strongest survive.
I certainly would get a few for my flock.:thumbsup
Hawaii also has a large feral chicken population.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :welcome

The thought has definitely crossed my mind, that has got to be some sturdy stock. Considering the hens are broody as all get out they would be great brooders to boot. My big worry would be parasites though, so I am thinking eggs would be they way to go. Cant wait to be that guy in a parking lot with binoculars trying to find a chicken nest lol.

Old english games sure are versatile! This is a pretty successful population.
