the Will They Hatch? thread

I plan to candle Wed night, and lockdown at 8 PM if any look good. [I'm glad you asked, I kinda forgot it was coming up.]

The cold gave me the excuse I needed to go look for a new doctor. My former doctor [and a bunch of others] have left after the clinic I used changed ownership and administrations. I had to go across the state line to find a clinic not under that same ownership, and they only have one doctor that's taking new patients

................. I can't see him untill Wed. .

.................................. I went to Wallyworld and bought Mucinex, Nyquil, and Halls.

I know a little bit about being in pain.......................... so working out to an excercise video is a mistake I'll not be making.

Just a friendly reminder from your pharmacist that Mucinex is worthless unless you drink plenty of fluid while taking it (and not just to choke it down with!).
Hope you feel better soon and don't have to cross state lines!

@steveH thanks, and to correct typo: i now have three "Marans" eggs in bator, as well. trying to get some eggs to hatch of dutch bantam hens a freind has, though he said he would gladly share two or three hens and a rooster (his rooster is new think said, and bout twice size of small hens, but no long sickle shaped feathers and said he was young, so wondering if cross with OEG, and curious if offspring will be smaller... ???).

Thanks for the tip, I had no idea and was a little disappointed that it did not seem to be working. As far as crossing the state line, that is now no farther for me than driving to the clinic I used to use.

I had figured that one out.

It doesn't sound like that cockeral is old enough to breed yet; and if he's twice as large as the hens already, a poor choice [in my opinion] if you're wanting to raise bantams.

Are you incubating several eggs with different start times in the same bator?

And it's really only good to break mucus up so you can pass it (in a variety of fun ways like coughing or blowing).

If you set on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb 6th) then day one would officially be 24 hours after you set them (sometime on Feb 7th). That means you are on day 15 now and you will go into lockdown on Thursday Feb 24th. So let's say you set them at 6:00PM on Feb 6th, you woudl go into lockdown at 6:00PM on Feb 24th.

Hope that makes sense

Thank you jettgirl23, I thought that was the case and have prepared for a Thursday morning lock down (I set at 8am). I own a wine/beer bar so I think it's good I won't be around Friday to worry about the whole thing but I'm going to try to make sure I have enough cover so I can have Saturday off in case there's some action. I hope the grandkids can come Sunday and see something anyway!

I think I'm more nervous about this hatching then I was when my daughter called 2 weeks ago and said she was in labor!

Guess it's because I've birthed before so I know how it all goes....I'm a virgin hatcher!

So I'm still wondering, the one that wasn't as full as the others.....is that a quitter?

Thank you!

I would be lost...well, more lost!

Without this forum!

Well...... 4 out of 8 have hatched from my Impossible Hatch, the other 4 are pipped and noisy! So the moral of this story is... they can take a 113 degree temp spike and 80's degree dip for hours and still pull through! Yay!

That's what I'm hoping for. I coughed up a little crap Fri nite; not much and I'm left with pain in my right chest and beneath my right shoulder blade, but that Rice Krispie sound as I breathed was gone by Sat morning. I still feel short winded and not too energenic. [As if I ever do]
