the Will They Hatch? thread

Got comp tickets to the Bon Jovi concert and ended up taking 4 of my friends--showing my age at ths point- My second chick decided to pop out right before we left and I had 4 pips. Came home after the concert and after party-- my husband does the house sound at a local night club and we had to be sure we didn't miss a chance to see the Man himself or Richie Sambora if the chose to show up and jam with opening act from the big show. Didn't get back until very late and none to steady on my feet to the four pips hatched out YEAH, and one pip. the pipped egg was half zipped this morning when I had to leave for work. One left to go.

This were cooled three times down to 70,but it happened earlier on in the incubation period. Much better hatc rate then the one's that cooled further along.

I had one chick hatch last night! But it had what I think must be the yolk still attached not alot though and little bit of blood. But this morning he is okay but his back hasn't feathered out. Could this because he was a "sticky chick"? No others have hatched, although one pipped last night about 8:30 it has made no progress. I had them in cartons but the new baby knocked them all over. I had cut them out individual cups. Should I take him out? He hatched at 11pm. This is my 1st time.

Glad the chick made it! I assume you mean its back is bald rather than not feathered?
I'm not very experienced, but would leave him, and wait for the others to hatch................................ especially if any have pipped. Thanks for sharing that cutting the carton into individual cups doesn't work.

Sigh. I couldn't make myself not finish the rest of my staggered hatches. Too guilty. LOL So tomorrow is lockdown for my 1 silkie egg. While visiting a friend, my son picked out an egg from the coop and we threw it in the bator just for fun. Darn if that thing isn't growing like crazy. We'll see if it really is a magical egg this Saturday.

I just realized something...

I was supposed to go away over night the weekend just gone which would be fine, just had to move the eggs to the auto turner that I haven't used yet. It got postponed till next weekend and I just realized I'll be going away the morning of day 17 and won't be back till the end of day 18 for one lot.

The others will be on day 13 and 14 so will still need turning.

So what to do? Do I put them all on the turner and lock them down a day late or run both 'bators and lock them down a day early? They are due to lockdown at midnight.

I really hate to leave any electrical appliance running when I'm away but not much choice.
