The eggs that I had set on 2/24 seem to be doing good. 1 Light Brahma & 1 Top Hat mix both hatched out with no issues today & many more are starting to crack!

I'm guessing this means I have the temp & humidity correct now.

Can't wait to have dozens of chicks hatching every week again.

well the one quail is now laying an egg a day, so will hope they are fertile, as she seems to be sick now, maybe from feed changed from seed, to chick then tried laying crumble. tossed the half developed rosecombe to the savanna monitor, and gave half dozen infertile eggs to neighbor (my game/laying hen eggs.. and one white leghorn egg). te fourth egg set, directly into bator off cold ground from sitting for how ever long and was stone cole, actually hatched... well, sort of, as it pipped and chipped the egg barely, and just screamed louder, then softer from day 18 to day 22, so i tried to carefully do what one thread showed how to just take shell away from were air cell was to check without messing up anything, and the chick was to big and swollen up hardly able to breath, so i helped it out, but it wasnt fully ready and seemingly alot of blood bile and gore coming out for such a tiny thing, and for days it didnt and still isnt a total fluffy butt peep yet, but pretty close. first couple days out it stayed in ball and seemed crippled, but tried to induce asphyxiation to jar body into action how naturally running out of air should have. it worked!!! its muscles spasmed till it was forced instinctively up and away from my smothering, and hasnt stopped chasing after crying for friendship, hardly since. if worried about moving to brooder, or not ready for such small numbers, you can just use a cut ring just short enough to not hit heater coil, and put it around chicks so they dont disturb other chicks, and can coax rest to hatch.

also accidentally dropped a huge bantam egg, that got from tiny hen, and the crack was able to see into egg and chick alive at time. so i fixed the crack by applying some roll on stick glue lip gloss seeming stuff, in layers after twelve hours or so of being cracked half open. days later even with huge air cell now, the embreo is so active and healthy seeming! any thoughts on how to try to improve hatch-ability in huge air celled egg? im trying to soak with humidity except to not the point of making paste glue come undone.

is it too late to join??? i got two sets of shipped eggs and a dozen from a friend. they all went into the bator last night. one set of shipped eggs was fine the other one looked about like steve h's. there were 5 that weren't cracked but had egg goo all ovewr them. i rinsed with warm water and a wash cloth and am giving them a chance. this is my first time so i'm super nervous. rathbone thanks for the advice yesterday. i really appreciate it. everyone on here is so helpful. these are definitely "will they hatch"

take a butter tub, cut the bottom off so droppings can fall through, or fill bottom with substrate if worried about hygine of rest of eggs, cut the top off leaving rim of lid on so can put some screen between cover and container. worked for me, to keep the only one due to hatch this week healthy and not have any fuss (rest of that setting were infertile). just make sure the tub top or side doesnt touch heating coil. only trouble, is my lone chick i got two buf babies a week older than to keep company, then the three barred rock i got today, seem to have made the little thing sick as this morn was tearing around attacking everything that moved still, and now is keeping one to both eyes closed, and seeming so sleepy or sickly. i have on medicated chick feed and vitamin water, but new chicks seem to be carrying a few uninvited germs, as they were all just crammed in hundred gallon water trough, and poop was just crusted and piled high.
