the Will They Hatch? thread

I'm back in.

I have 18 BCM eggs in lockdown, due tomorrow and I'll be gone from early morning till late night.

Those suckers are just too dark dark to candle.

I do feel a couple that are lighter weight than some others, so hopefully full if chicks.

I have an egg on day 15. I candled it and saw that the whole egg except for the pointy end is dark. I can't see an aircell at all. I'm using a pretty bright flashlight and I can see well in my other eggs. What is going on with this one? Help!

TIA!

I guess I'm joining this thread late, but thought it was the best place for this. I just put 7 BO eggs under my broody bantam hen Weds. evening. They had been in my BO pen since late last week, and no one was sitting on them, so I'm not sure they'll hatch. But I sure am hoping they will! If viable, will hatch April 16.

Sorry I haven't been keeping up, came down with a repeat bronchial infection Tuesday night. I finally gave up and went to the doctor yesterday; xrays showed the lungs clear, he put me on a different antibiotic, and my fever broke last night/early morning.

Only 5 of 42 eggs made it to lockdown Wed, but they're the lav Orps.

I guess I'm feeling well enough to haul the dogs to the last weight pull of the season; will be leaving soon. My female is undefeated, but has been out pointed by one of the ones she beat................ hoping to pick up 8 points to win the regional gold medal..................... otherwise I would stay home.

I've never left home with eggs due to hatch before; I hope the temperature holds steady.

two more ducks are half out, but one has some yolk attched still! placed it in a shallow container on a towel so it doesn't do any damage in hopes it will absorb while still in the bator.

1 duckling out in the brooder, 1 still not pipped, but active at this tim in the egg.

...and the answer is................

YES!!!

My only 2 fertile BCM eggs, out of 7, hatched at the same time last night! Pretty darn cute chicks. We might have to put a chick shoe on one -- his toes on one foot want to curl under a bit.

Now to start saving up eggs for the next hatch! And I put my BCM roo in with just my BCM hen yesterday and made sure he "fertilized" her upcoming eggs.

Oh, and the replacement orps that were sent, I candled last night of the 12 10 are developing. Amazing how well they can do if the PO doesn't treat them like a martini!

Out of 17 (I counted wrong and thought 18) BCM eggs I have one lonely chick and no other pips. No noise from any of the other eggs.
My humidity did drop some this morning, but not too bad. The only one hatched is out of my Davis flock. None of my others or the shipped ones look like they'll do anything. They were all Bev Davis line BCMs.
I was gone all day yesterday and when I got home the one egg had a pip, but I also heard others and today nothing.
I've been using cartons lately and although I had very bad luck with them before I think I'll stick with them. I was out of cartons when they went to lockdown. I get a carton this afternoon and cut it down. Rushed them into it and still nothing.

None of the other chicks made it out. I'm so bummed again. I've been having some awesome hatches and this time, just one. At least I got one though.
