I am a avid cross stitcher, I love to cross stitch and its the only other thing I do besides talk to you guys in my spare time. Yesterday i went to Wal-Mart to pick up some more emdordery thread for a project I am doing. When I got back to the crafts dept, and to where they keep the thread there was clearance signs all over and it was marked down to 10 cents a piece ,I asked the lady if they where getting rid of the #s that they had to make room for a different line of threads. They said that they got a email stating that they are removing all of the stitchery items for good!!!

In this town Wal-mart was the only place that carried Aida, and threads.

I cant believe that this is happening. I went over and took at least one of each thread they had and all of the commonly used colors like black, white Ecru, gray, etc. This really trorksme off. The nearest craft store is 40 miles away. :thun Stupid Wal-Mart, the only reason I go in there is for those things, and now they take and get rid of every thing that is of that craft.

I dont know what to do now. I did get a butt load of the colors they had left but some of the little bins were already empty. :thun We have a target coming in town but I dont know if they would carry those items either. One thing is for sure, I wontbe seen in Wal-mart again. I already hated that store, and like I said the only reason I go to that store is for more x-stitching supplies. I dont know if it is happening to just this store or if the whole chain is getting rid of it to. :thun Very angery, very very very angery:thun

the whole #@!*#$@ chain is getting rid of tons of craft supplies!!!! I went to my local Wal-mart for some material to make my child's costume for a play last year only to find the entire sewing section GONE!!!!! I asked and they said that Wal-Mart is getting rid of the stuff cause they don't sell enough. I'm in the same boat, no other store around me sells this stuff!!!! I'd have to drive an hour one way just to buy these things!!! :thun

Only some stores are closing their fabric/craft departments. It is unfortunate as it seems only the smaller stores are doing away with it in towns that have no other resources. You are not the only one upset, this story just made national news on CNN last week.

Sorry to hear your story. Wal-Mart IS the devil. I do not go in there for ANY reason at all. I used to cross stitch, but I have a 2 year old and what would be the point in trying with her helping. Anyway, we have several craft stores near here and I can try to get what you need and mail it to you as you need it. Just think, maybe wal-mart will dig a hole and go bankrupt? LOL right, they have more money than the rest of the world combined.

I had a heap of x-stitch thread, but I gave it away! I can't believe Wal-M is not going to sell craft supplies anymore, especially if that's the only place in your town to get it.!?

This first popped up on Homesteading Today. Our local WallyWorld hasn't marked anything down yet and there's still a ton of fabrics there...Of course, I'll smack the first person who tries to grab the chicken fabric ahead of me...

but we have Michael's, Joann's and ACMoore up here too. And I haunt all of them.

all the SEWING supplies were gone out of my Wal-mart, I was told by an employee that walmart was getting rid of that stuff. Course it's just a walmart employee that told me that. And my walmart is fairly new and a super sized one. You'd think they sold plenty of the stuff

Try living 15-20 miles from Wally World home office, all of their high paid execs are moving into our county, making our land prices soar, and our farm land is suffering, grrrrr

I don't have a wally world

There was a year of fighting and it made it to the ballot it was such a hot issue. Dead in the water....no wally world for us. Closest one is a 2hour drive. Funny...we manage without one!
