The worst kind of predator

NOW beleive it or NOT , they went out and bought their own chickens AFTER they had stolen ours and have them running LOSE all over their yard .
That will also come out in court . WE DO have a City Ordinence that PROHIBTS any chickens to be free roaming . You can have all you want , providing they are in cages OR in a closed in area , AS IN CLOSED in RUN . they CAN NOT free roam at all .

I look at it this way , IF I have to follow the laws , rules , and city Ordinces to have my chickens , SO WILL THEY .

it would be great if your coop was strong enough so you could make it so when he went in, it would lock and he would be stuck in there til the sherrif got him out.

LOLL "part Indian and totally crazy," my mum is English and insane, and seriously... does your sign actually say "Don't even think about it,"? ... that would be SO rad, I need to put up no trespassing signs, and no hunting signs at the end of our driveway, and outside the paddocks because there are deer in the area, and I see some stupid kids on ATV's driving in the field in front of us... and someone STOLE our bluebox the first day we put out our garbage, WITH THE RECYCLING IN IT!!

O..M..G.. That's just horrible!!! I can't believe they would do that! I remember I did a report a couple years ago in school about animal abuse and in my speech I said that anyone who tortures animals for fun needs serious help, mentally. Poor horse, and poor girl! I hope this theif is caught soon. I hope the chickens that he/she (never know, could be a girl) stole gave them a nice peck and deep scratches

When they go in they won't come out without help. And like I said, the neighbor is the sheriff. He lives about 10 minutes away and will be the first person I call. Even if I did call the sheriff department, they would call him, for they are about 30 mintues away.

How many total head would you say you HAD , and how many are missing ? So sorry you having to deal with this . If you read my posts , you will see I had to deal with the same kind of nonsense . WE CAUGHT OURS tho and charges have been filed . waiting on the court date

That's quite conveniant that your neighbor is the sheriff! Happy hunting! Please let us know how this turns out, this is quite interesting.

How are you trapping him inside? Changing the doorknobs so they only turn from the outside or what?

Oh yeah. I know it sounds silly, but you may want to leave a bottle of water or two inside the coop, just so he doesn't come back and sue you for something stupid. But, I would only worry about this, if there is the possibility he is going to get "stuck" for a couple hours or more.

cajunlizz, she had about 300 hens, 20 roos and maybe 500 chicks. No way to count the chicks running all over the place chasing bugs or one another. She hasn't said how many she has lost. I just know she lost the biggest and most frienly roo I have ever seen. The money she makes from the eggs goes in her college fund. She is 13 now and knows she wants to be a vet. Every Friday that she is off from school, she cons someone into taking her to the Arff in Auburn. This is a cat rescue facility. There she takes care of cleaning the cats, kittens and cages. They gave her a kitten to care for they thought would die, it had no skull bone over 1/2 it's head. That was two years ago and the cat is still living and has grown a skull bone if you can call it that. It can't go outside at all.

Sounds like a game cam would be a good tool in this situation. You'd have tangible proof of the thieves' identity.

I want one of the signs that says "forget the dog, beware of the OWNER!"
