The Wyandotte Thread

I have several breeds and my Wyandotte are most definitely at the top of the list. I breed , them raise them and handle them regularly. They climb all over me and sit on my lap.
Admittedly they can be a little ' stand offish ' as they become sexually mature but my ,they really are eye candy. My gold laced are now 6 years old and still laying daily and we are in the middle of winter. It's unfortunate that you have had an unsatisfactory result with yours, perhaps you should try a different strain.

I had Silver and Gold Laced Wyandottes but they were hatchery quality and totally non-friendly but I did not raise them from day old so will never know.

@Fancychooklady I posted some pics yesterday just 2 posts back. Can you please comment, I would really appreciate.

Most of them look like pullets but we need to see more head shots. The wattles should have dropped by now. The first one has a star comb but most of the others look fine.
Thats encouraging. Apart from one of the splashes having a star comb, the other ones with star combs, have probably been mixed with some other breed because they have some salmon color on them as evidenced by left chick in pic#3 and right chick in pic#4. They had V patterns on their heads when they were newborn like the Legbars. Here are their pics when they were a few days old.

I live in Colorado and my Daughter and my self are looking for show quality Wyandottes. We would like Sliver laced or Golden(I hear the goldens are hard to come by). She shows chickens in 4H and loves her birds. We would like to find 2 to 5 Hens and a Rooster so she can start raising her own show birds. Any help is appreciated. We raise show pigeons also so we are open to shipping birds threw the post office we do that all the time with the pigeons. We have some combian, blue laced reds, and few silver laced that came from commercial hatcheries and we love them. Great layers and Great personalities.

Hello all, I currently took on the partridge wyandotte bantam breed. And I have a question about leg coloring, I only have experience with LF GLW, question is i have 9 chicks, from two different breeders, some have slate coloring to their legs, will this change? I will cull them out if it is permanent. Ty
