From all the research I've done on breeding, if you mix GLW with Buff or SLWs you'll end up with Splash. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.I have some GLW and Partridge pullets and I've been looking for a roo for them. I can find Buffs and SLW locally very easily.
I'm brand new to genetics on chickens-what would the resulting chicks be colorwise? These are all hatchery chicks-I'm not looking to show or breed for SQ. Just curious about color genetics.
TIA!
Thanks! That's very interesting. I'm starting to doubt that mine are what I was told-I need to post a pic and see what the experts think! From all the research I've done on breeding, if you mix GLW with Buff or SLWs you'll end up with Splash. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm such a novice at Wyandottes, I'm not sure what the terms are yet. Splash or Spangled - I'm not sure what the difference is!Definitely not Splash (Blue splashes over white background)
GLW x Silver laced will probably just give you diluted GLW, somewhat sex linked, so the cockerels could be lighter gold then the hens.
GLW over Buff is somewhat more interesting, possibility of double laced or half spangled.
Perhaps when somebody suggested Splash, they really meant Spangled?
