The Wyandotte Thread

So I got a mix of Wyandotte chicks two weeks ago. 6 BLR, 3BLG, and 3 SLW (don't think I'm abbreviations right) and I'm having a hard time telling who is who. It's not a big deal but I have one that is really dark with pure black wings so far. Little bit of gray on back and the white stripes on back as well. I don't think it's a black and white one because I have three that all look the same and have brighter white then the rest. I guess my real question is how much can you tell about the look of a chicken by its first feathers? And is no markings on a Wyandotte something that just happens and they grow out of or no. Having a hard time getting pic but going to try again.

Hello from Charlotte area of NC. I am looking to see if there are any breeders in the area. I went to the link and only found ideal poultry as a working link for Wyandottes. I have some favorites of golden, silver laced and Columbia. Opinions? I'm a first time backyard chicken keeper. I was raised with some but on a large farm and I didn't order from others

Finally had time to get a pic of the chic I'm curious about.

Her new wing feathers are all completely black. Does that mean she won't have the lacing or can it change when she gets older. I ordered one BLR rooster too so she could be a he? I think I know my three SLW

. They all look like this one. So from the BLR group or BLG?

This was my BLRW. She is very light now but I think that they could be dark to black? Maybe yours is the darker version of the BLRW?

I have one chick with colors like yours! So excited! I like the splash ones a lot. My little black chick is probably the darker BLR. I think I can tell the gold's apart now after looking at them today. She's just the only one of 12 with absolutely no coloring on wings other than black. I can't wait to see what they'll look like when they get older. The wait is going to drive me crazy!

It goes by pretty quick! They change so fast & before you know it they are the "18 weeks" and are considered grown up. I'm still waiting on their eggs to get larger so I can sell a few. Enjoy your babies

Keep posting pics as the one progresses, I'd love to see how she feathers out
