As far as I know, no other than they are much smaller so we keep ours in a different pen. I think they are so much prettier than the standards though. I hate to say that cause I absolutley LOVE the wyandotte breed. There's no color that I dislike, their all beautiful. There's just something that makes the bantams stand out more. I think it's their tails, I'm not sure. After getting them though I decided that I want to start showing chickens. Oh I hope you enjoy yours just as much as we do!!

What happens when you cross a pure silver laced Roo with a pure black hens ???

Silver Laced Roo X with Black Hen.

What are the color possibilities or Exact results of this color cross ???

Thank You,

Hi everyone. I've been following along with this thread on and off for a few months, reading here and there.

I recently got into Wyandotte bantams after buying some eggs from someone on BYC. Myself and another BYC'r have some Partridge, BLRW, and what we think may be some Dun Laced. On a second batch of eggs that we received, I have 2 what look to be Gold Laced although this person doesn't have Gold Laced.

Did I read somewhere in this thread that BLRW's were actually created by breeding GL and SL together or did I dream it? LOL Both of these GL's look to be pullets.

So if we were to breed the GL's back to the BLRW's what would the results be?

I raised parrots (still do) for 30 years and understand about genetics of breeding parrots so I think I'll be able to get it once someone helps me a bit.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Laurie

Are you sure they aren't black laced reds? I'm not sure how the BLRW variety was developed exactly, but breeding GL and SL together will never result in blue...you would get either gold or silver laced with leakage. The blue gene in BLRW is the same as for andalusian, which means you could end up with blue, black, or splash (laced) birds. If you were to breed these "GLW" to the blue BLRW you should get 50% blue laced and 50% black laced. http://bluelacedred.com/blrindex.html has some nice pictures and a simplified chart of the BLRW genetics.
