The Wyandotte Thread

I know one of my silvers has yellowed a bit. Though it might be from something else like some one pooping on him and staining. The ones I have in VA haven't yellowed. The only time I have found they yellow on my rooster here is getting pooped on (Of course right before a show!). Any body have yellowing in their silvers? Good topic I haven't thought very much about. For any one with lighter colored wyandottes (splash maybe) does the sun bleach their color?

Can someone post a pic of a hen newly starting to lay? I am unfamiliar with this comb type and want to know what to look for with my girls. They're 17weeks old now and they're silver laced wyandottes

Some 8-10 month old wyandottes. Feathering on the two hens are fantastic. Going to show them soon
Is that rooster show quaility? Mine looks similiar but stands a bit taller. I'm probably not going to show him, but I was just wondering.

Hey, me again with the same bird.. I've had this little one for a month now. She's supposedly four and a half months old but isn't even fully feathered. Even if she was a month younger than I was told, shouldn't she have all her feathers? She's mostly missing them under her wings. My Plymouth rocks were fully grown by this stage. Should I be concerned? Or could she just be a runt? She seems very small for her age too. Also, I'm starting to think she might be a he...

Yes, he is. He is actually being a bit lazy in holding his tail in this picture. He is showing a very good heart shape which is what you strive for in a wyandotte. Have any pictures of your boy?

With her not feathering out I am certain she is actually a he. Boys feather out much more slowly than hens. It took my boys almost 4 months to completely feather out. Also that comb and those wattles scream cockerel at that age.

Ok so tonight I went out and looked at my cockerel more closely. I used the Standard to help me look over him better. Some "faults" I noticed... Tail. It seems narrow, and the angle is too high. Also a bunny tail. He is finishing up a juvenile molt, so some of these could change, but that's the main thing I noticed.
Here is his tail from behind:

Also, wing carriage... I'm thinking too low. I have seen other Wyandotte males carry their wings like this, so this isn't something that stood out to me as much.
Not the best picture but gives you a general idea of what I'm talking about.

Some positives I noticed about him:
His beetle green sheen. Everywhere I look on him, whether it's in the sun or in the dark, his green really shines. Also, his width is completely even throughout the whole bird. His head is also decent. I'm taking him to a show at the end of April and I'm looking forward to hear what a judge has to say.
