The Wyandotte Thread

With her not feathering out I am certain she is actually a he. Boys feather out much more slowly than hens. It took my boys almost 4 months to completely feather out. Also that comb and those wattles scream cockerel at that age.

:( well at least it's not because something's wrong with her/him.

Quote: The feathering on the wing is throwing me. The comb screams roo but the wing feathers don't.... they look like a pullet.

Another thing... my wyandottes pretty soon are BIGGER than my other chicks.  Well not the Marans but most of the others for sure. At 4.5 months it should be bigger.

The man I bought her from said he had a bantam that got mixed in with his other chicks and he wasn't sure which one it was, but pretty sure it wasn't this one. Is that possible? Could this one be a bantam then? He said it shouldn't be this one because her neck was so light but its much darker now.

Sorry about the delay. Here is a pic of one of my girls lacing
very pretty gold laced girl. and i like her tail, from what i can see in the other pic.
type-wise i would say she looks good, but i'm not sure what the judges say about the shafting... the center shaft of the feather should be colored the same as the rest of the center of the feather, ideally. when the color differs, either lighter or darker that is considered a fault, but i'm just not sure how serious it is, since type is weighed so much more heavily than color.

Some 8-10 month old wyandottes. Feathering on the two hens are fantastic. Going to show them soon.
Beautiful...love the body of your birds..!! The correct chests are hard to find..

And one for good measure....what do you think?? Are they show worthy??
You should show...have they moulted yet? Shafting might not show up as much after a molt..Her lacing looks like it goes all the way down her leg..nice
