If those are supposed to be Wyandottes their type is miles off. It takes more than a rose comb to make a Wyandotte. Remember, build the house before you paint it. Many people are obsessed with developing new varieties but too many of them pay no attention to type.

In a word: circles. When I was apprenticing for my judging license one of the experienced Judges I clerked with was named Ernie Durb & he really knew Wyandottes. He taught me to look for 3 circles when evaluating Wyandottes. One large circle which describes the shape of the body. A second circlehigher & to the front describing shape of the well arched neck, the head & the short, well curved beak. The last circle high & to the rear following the curve of the abundant, well filled tail. If you take that description& look at one of the illustrations in the Standard you'll go "Ohhh".

In my defense this was not a PLANNED new color or cross but my original birds came from Foley so type should be pretty good.

A few partridge bantams from this year's hatch.

I'm interested in BLR bantams and have noticed their mahogany coloring isn't generally as good as the LF, especially the splash. What are you bantam breeders doing to improve the red color? Foley has an e-book offered on his site to help with breeding the BLRs. I'd buy it in a minute if I was sure it was as applicable to the bantam as the LF, since they are not on equal ground.
