But both show not so lovely lacing.

WARNING: DUMB QUESTION FOLLOWS
Wouldn't breeding birds from the same hatch be in-breeding?
I bought 5 chicks from a lady who had one, maybe two roosters and several hens. Would that make the chance of breeding two that are siblings?

I've read one breeding with siblings is ok. However, I've got free range game mixes at work that I have no real control over moving around/restricting clutches etc, so there's no telling who's related to who, and I haven't seen any issues. That being said, I wouldn't keep a rooster in my personal flock that is related by choice.

All of my Wyandottes are related and I still get good show birds, you should be fine breeding sibilings. I have a brother and a sister in a breeding together right now.

So, I guess that wasn't as dumb a question as I thought. My husband still thinks it's weird so I'll probably search for an unrelated rooster in the future. Right now I have one Silver laced pullet and one unrelated silver laced rooster, and then 4 blue laced reds, which were the ones I was trying to get a good Rooster from. And i think i have 2 pullets, and 2 roosters, out of that color.

most poultry are fairly line bred as it is, so breeding half sibs or even full sibs isn't an issue usually. but if you can, down the road for future generations, you get stock from another source to outcross with to maintain viability and vigor.

I know but she is a WYANDOTTE I think she is a mix also. And she has a silver mark on her head too. And then there is the brown also. WOW she is 1 year 3 months old too. Lays nice brown tint eggs large. THANKS
