The Wyandotte Thread

I'm good on catching a game hen... 3 acres of rooster running and that killed me. A few quick leaps no real flying so if there is flying involved count me out. I hope to never have to do that again. Lol I think it's time for a latch on the inside to avoid that. I'll blame the wife though since she was in the coop when he jump/flew over her into the door and out like a bolt if lightning. Hopefully she doesn't check posts and see I blamed her. Lol

Trying to decide who eggs is who's. What color are SLW eggs? I know brown, but light almost cream? Or dark?
Egg on the right. RIR or SLW?

The one on the right looks just like RIR girls size and color wise, and color wise on my production reds as well

Use a dip net. I have a kids butterfly net I use with the young ones. I had a escapee the second day I had him and it took us 3 days to catch him.

I have learned a hard lesson of don't let children into the incubation room... I of course told them not to touch the incubators but what did they do? They touched them and the incubator I had 3 cochins hatching in had the temp rocket up to 120... Didn't realize it until this morning and lost all three... My other incubator I lent to someone to hatch geese and stressed do NOT mess with the temperature because I made it PERFECT. What did they do? Mess with it...

They got a poor hatch to boot and I was told they didn't touch anything so I loaded it with my own eggs. Put 25 wyandotte eggs in it and I might lose all of them because they set the temperature to 95-97 degrees.

I moved them to my "untouched" incubator and will hopefully save some of them. Such a disappointment... Oh well lesson learned... 1# don't let kids into the incubator room and 2# don't let someone borrow your incubator unless they are a close friends them and you know they will listen to you...
