The Wyandotte Thread

Had posted a new thread too since I wasn't sure if anyone would check here any more...got this answer for anyone who was interested
Your gold hens are pure for gold and will produce all pure for gold offspring when bred to a gold rooster.
Gold and silver are sex linked which means hens can only carry one gene for it.
They can only be one or the other. They can't carry a gene for each like a male can.
If females show gold they're gold and only gold.
If they show silver they are silver and only silver.

Hi everyone. Last week I hatched 16 chicks from 19 at lockdown. Four of these are Wyandottes - SLW & GLW.

The Dorkings and Australorps are showing about 50/50 with tail feathers, but none of the Wyandottes are showing any tail feathers at all.

Does this mean I have all cockerels, or do Wyandottes not grow tail feathers as fast as the two other breeds?

TIA

I got 4 Partridge Wyandotte pullets from Chicken Hill Poultry 5 years ago and realized
I've never really shown off these gorgeous girls. I love them very mellow, beautiful girls complete opposites of the silver laced girls I got from a local hatchery. Their only flaw in my eyes is the fact that their frustratingly broody. They have spent more time trying to brood then anything else their usually broody from April-august.
I've got some more pictures of them in my album called laying flock 2018.
