The Wyandotte Thread

All my bantam wyandottes came in an order from sandhill 4 or 5 years ago. I got 5 choc (dun), 1 blue and 1 black. From them over the years I still have duns in many colours from splash to almost black, blacks, blue, white, buff and partridge. I have never shown any, but a poultry judge who raises standard wyandottes says I have some very good bantams that he thinks would do extremely well. They are also amazing layers. I have been very happy with the Sandhill bantams that I got.

Duane would it be possible to see some pics of the duns. I have been wanting to get these for a few years now and just haven't done it. I haven't had bantams and maybe that is what is stoping me. Where are you from ? Maybe I could get some eggs or something sometime. Thanks Mike

I can try to take some pics over the weekend. I live just north of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada so shipping eggs would not be easy and way more money than the states sorry. Our postal shipping is way more here than in the States. Right I don't have very many duns left as last fall lots of people wanted them, but I sure will try and take some pictures this weekend.

I love Wyandottes I want to create Buff Laced Wyandottes.
I am loving all the pictures.

If you could even get one dun bantam rooster and breed it to large hens then just keep breeding the duns to large black hens, in no time you will have large duns. Then after large duns will be large dunlaced, dun partridge, dun columbian, dun laced red, the possibilities are endless!

That's what I was thinking about when I got my Buff and Golden-laced Wyandottes last spring. But the chicken calculator says the only way to get buff-laced from golden-laced is to cross buff-laced onto them. So where would you get the buff-laced color without losing too much of the Wyandotte breed character? The only buff-laced chickens I've found were game bantams (just looking through hatchery catalogs). It's a very pretty color, though.

I would use Gold laced wyandotte and Isa browns.

Flying Monkey. Hi. You stated earlier that you know how to get partridge out of a cross of Gold laced with Silver Penciled. I have fairly nice Gold Laced and have found a couple Silver Penciled Roosters. Can you send me the information on what crosses I should do, etc. Thanks
Duane
