The Wyandotte Thread

Just viewed the "FEATHERSITE" website which has the most pictures that I know of as far as Wyandottes and I did not see any Black Laced Reds, but what do I know ? nada ! But the pictures of the brown or so called Porcelain are gorgeous and I want some. How do you breed that variety ?

When you breed blue to blue, you get 25% splash, 50% blue, and 25% black. Thus, 25% splash-laced-red, 50% blue-laced-red, 25% black-laced-red.

I got over 30 young Wyandottes, just took some pics had to try my new camara.

Hi,
I got these two BLRW a few weeks back and they were sold to me as pullets but I feel the one is a cockerel which is ok becuase I will be able to breed them. How do they look sex, type, and color?

I'm sorry to say it, but based on the feathering they might both be cockerels.

There also not very good in coloration. They should be a much deeper red rather than gold, and have more pronounced lacing. It hard to tell from the pics, but the shape of the tail may also be a bit off.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I hadn't even thought of the black laced reds, but it will be interesting to see what they all turn out with as they get older!

btw, beautiful birds everyone!

Sometimes its really hard to tell for me anyway what sex it is until its closer to 6 months or so or starts to crow!
Can you contact the person you bought them from and ask if they might be able to work something out with you? To bad you didnt live closer I just hatched out some really cute chicks.
