The Wyandotte Thread

I finally got some pictures of my barred blue wyandottes! They are right around 16 weeks. I ended up with two that are that age, and one that is about 12 weeks. Here are the older two:

How many of you are experienced BLR and Splash breeders??? I need some advice/info on my program. Only had Bantam Wyndottes a bit over a year, still learning genetics, type, ect

So I got two new girls since the chicks I raised ended up all being roos....This is Lacie and Shadow. Shadow is the light one and Lacie is well the laced one....Lacie is a bit older and Shadow is lighter my question is they are quite skittish....what is a good way to get them to be more friendly once you get them they are fine but they don't seem to interested in me and i know since i just got them yesterday they are probably scared and stressed....

are you going to ship eggs next year? I'd love to get some.

I highly doubt it. I may keep one of the boys, just because they're pretty and have great temperaments, but I've never considered breeding or selling eggs. I only have 38 birds, so I just tend to buy what I want versus trying to hatch them. Never know, though.

The barred birds are from Paul's. I know they were working on a barred line. At hatch, they looked just like the rest of the blues. at about 7-8 weeks, they started to develop really faint barring, and it just continued from there.

Oh well was worth the try. they are very pretty!. Thanks for letting me know where they are from. I wish shipping was not so much from Fl. to Wv. Or I would get one of your boys when ever you posted them. I'm getting some blues soon that seem to carry the white laced, gene. I'm hoping to work towards blue laced white. they have med to lg eggs too. Thanks again for the info.

Time is important, but don't forget the utility of a well-placed bribe! The surest way to a chickens heart is through her stomach. Bring really good treats with you every time you show up, and they'll begin to look forward to your presence.
