My birds are still pretty young, about 6 weeks now, and though still in their fugly phase there is one in particular who looks much different. For a while it seemed that the bird had no lacing on it, making it look almost totally red with blue on the tail, neck and head. Today my boyfriend were out with the birds and the wyandottes were inspecting us as usual, when I realized that the bird in question does in fact have lacing - red lacing.
I'll have to get pictures, and while I understand the bird is still young (and a suspected cockerel), we are almost positive that this bird is a red laced blue Wyandotte. Could this just be the bird going through a phase? Obviously we have decided he is on the top of the cull list, but is this something any of y'all have come across??
