The Wyandotte Thread

In my BLRW i put my best pullets in with an older cockbird that has really good color and lacing, I bred for type on these pullets and the color could be a little more even on them....but I think the type is really good on them.

These pictures suck, but I think you can see the nice TeePee shaped butts on them...

I like the type on this pullet and she is as big as my SLW pullets...love the angle on her tail and has a nice head and round body.

Mrs. Turbo :

hahaha....I don't fix my hair for a chicken show.....look for the tired lady with bags under her eyes, a pony tail, and a bunch of kids following behind.
I got tired of the chicken avatar.

Sounds like me at a horse show(not pretty!)

KyBlue...sadly I do not have any WLR roosters to go with them. Lost all of them last winter. Really depressing considering how many WLR roosters I got rid of over the years but such is the chicken business. I will be crossing them with a GL rooster which will give about a 50/50 split of GL/WLR offspring. I have done it in the past. This is a recovery project to say the least. I have called around to the older wyandotte bantam breeders I knew and no one knows of anyone raising WLR anymore. I sure hope these arent the last two in the country...too much pressure haha...
We shall see how it goes. They are old hens but they still lay well thankfully. Thats one thing about the WLR I have raised, they all laid and hatched really well.
Turbo....love that big SL. Wyandottes are such a beauty to behold when bred correctly.

I cannot wat till Spring, because I am going to order some(more) of Mrs. Turbos BLRW!! I met her at the Ohio National Poultry Show, and she was really nice

Originally we wanted BLRW to breed...but the silvers are just so striking. The more I learn about the breed, the more I love it. Our babies...now 7-8 months old are really starting to be our buddies now and develop their personalities. They are so friendly and so easy going.
