indeed! I'd love to see some more of them. gotta get some of my two boys when they are done getting all their feathers back.

We did a trial introduction of the young ones with our two one-year-olds (Goldie and Mossy). They have separate runs, but only separated by a chain link, so they've been able to watch each other since we got the new ones 12 days ago. The young'uns range from 5 to 7 weeks old, two pullets and a cockerel. He really showed he's a boy today, always placing himself between his two little girls and the big girls. He tried to confront both Mossy and Goldie, each one flared up at him and scared him off, occasionally gave him a quick peck or a growl, showing they are the boss. But nothing severe or harsh. Pretty soon they all got used to each other, for the most part. We'll give them all an hour or so a day together, then open up the space and combine the two runs this weekend.

The little boy stands his ground and watches as they eat his food.

Here The new ones are trying out Goldies perch, and so Goldie growled at them, scaring the little girl a bit.
I think the little one is 5 weeks old, the boy (in the middle on the perch) is 6 weeks, and the big girl (on the right) is about 7 weeks.

Where did you get these? I ordered some SLW from Ideal, but their markings were awful.
Just recently started reading this thread and wanted to say hi.

Looks like there's a few names in here I'm already familiar with. I have 5 week old SLW's and I am really excited about them. I'm not used to chicks that are this friendly and I am loving them.

Most hatcheries have a resembling of the breed, but do not guarentee they are of "show quality".

Here are some of our Buff Wyandotte Bantams. (We have some hatching eggs available).

These are very gentle. Background is our large fowl Orpingtons.

Nice birds!

In my opinion a breeder should never advertise "show quality" chicks because they never know how they will grow out. Saying they are out of show stock would be more honest. I've change my thinking to trying to find the best foundation birds and hoping that I can breed something that might do well in a show, and those birds have not been from a hatchery.

My breeders are of show quality, bred to the Standard. But you never know what they will produce. Hidden genes will always pop up. Like single combs in Wyandottes. I have not seen any ... yet. But the chance is there.

Yup! I know what you mean. My silver laced (Ideal Hatchery) ended up with a pretty odd comb, indeed! Unicorn style! LOL
