And here are the girls.

Note the huge single comb on the Brown Leghorn. You cant see how the rear part of it curls around her head in this pic. It seemed to sprout up overnight.
She didn't have it at 15 weeks. She is about 19 weeks as of the time of this pic (20 min. ago).

Hey ours are the same age and we have our first egg today too! Congrats! Not sure which of my breeds did it-but it's smaller and we found it!

Well I guess we are pretty lucky. We got our first egg at eggsactly 17 weeks We have got 6 in the last 6 days. One day we got none but the next day we got 2. We know we have at least 1 RIR laying and one that I think is a RSL.
Our neighbor got an egg from one of her white leghorns at 11 weeks !!!! Now is that early or what.

foweler - thats about the same as my first 2 eggs. problem is, my little boy wont let me crack it open to cook & see if its a double yolker lol.
is there a specific time they lay? went there this morning 7 in the morning, its light & they were all in the run.

The Brown Leghorn is two weeks younger than the other two and she's the only one left to lay. It could be any minute now as she just went in the coop where my Light Brahma is currently in the nest and the RIR just started singing. She usually sings for the LB but this could be it for the BL. Fingers crossed!
"Sprung up overnight is a bit of an eggsageration" but it did fill in very quickly.

Thank's. I keep telling my wife we might just have a show quality Brown Leghorn here. I have no idea but I like to say that. I think all of our birds are darn good looking.

They seem to go like clockwork. The LB goes into the nest at around 7-7:30 and is out by 8ish. The RIR goes in around 9-9:30 and is out around 10ish.

Here is a picture of my 2 doubles in action:

Here are the girls at our nightly chicken party on 4/17/09:

The chicken parties are the only time the BL will let me touch her.

Well this am I finally talked the wife into leting me use the pullet eggs for breakfast. They were all complete eggs ( I had heard that the first ones may only be whites) and the second one that was laid was a DY. They were so cute but VERY hard shell !
