Their first night outside on their own

Success!!! They stayed outside on their own last night. Today it's going to be in the 70s again and they are already sun bathing in the run! I'm a proud mama :D

Mine went outside for their first time today too. It is about 50°F. I also put their little coop inside of the fenced area.

They didn't move around as much as I had expected. I thought they'd be happier to get more freedom. They just stood where I set them, and were like "ok, now what?". They seem happy though, and not cold.

I'll admit though, it was getting cold last night (their first night in their coop), so I added a 100W light bulb, using the heat lamp fixture. The heat lamp fixture was insurance that the lamp couldn't shift and touch the wood. The hens were quiet after adding a little heat.

It's nice today (60s), so they are out of the coop, in their run, getting to know the new place. My dogs (Boston Terriers) are just outside the fence, getting to know their new sisters. Hopefully getting to know them enough to not harm them in the future, when we eventually allow the hens to free range in the yard with the dogs.

Can't upload my 30 second video of the dogs checking out the hens through the fence, it's too large, file size ... but funny as hell.

Upload to You Tube, copy the address, come back here and hit that little “film” icon at the top of the reply box. Paste the address from You Tube and post.

Thanks! I'll have to create a YouTube account first. Cute as hell though, cause the more bold/explorative of my two little dogs couldn't figure out what those little things were (although they're almost as tall as the 20# Boston Terrier).

I was mainly worried about one of the hens pecking at his only (somewhat) good eye, with him sticking his little nose thru the fence. He has one bad eye, and one eye with very limited eyesight. Poor little guy gets around relatively well, but I'm still worried about preserving what he has.
