I forgot to lock the girls in last night and woke up to a slaughter. I did not hear a thing while asleep next to the run. It must have happened early AM I forget to lock the coop last night for the 1st time. Well 1 time was all enough. My wife woke me to tears and hysteria. Our little Buffy was running around the side yard talking and mumbling and when my wife got a stick and worked her around to the run thinking how did she get out to put her up. She opened the gate to a slaughter, our 5 other girls where decapitated by something big. I/we did not hear a thing. All 5 of the other girls were bloody and dead. I am so sad. They were doing so good. I made a huge mistake just 1 time and for got to lock the coop. OMG RIP Blackie, Reddie, Spot, Jet and B2. I am so upset and mad at myself. OMG

Steve, how heartbreaking...I forgot to lock my month old ducklings up this spring and woke to find they had been killed...I feel your pain, anger, guilt and frustration but remember we are human and we do make mistakes, we just have to learn from them.
