WE HAVE A CHICK.
Broody #3 is doing great

she is very calm and relaxed. Like chicken Josephine.
The only problem is that she is putting a little too much weight on the eggs. which shouldn't be a problem but it is with the smashed up egg.
I will try and take photos, but it is getting dark so I don't know how they will turn out.

Just checkin' in. How are things going? How many broodies, and how many eggs are left?

Can hardly wait to see your pictures! If I remember correctly, you got a nice camera for your birthday, right?

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting to ask .... why do you spray water to up humidity on broody eggs? Is it different in Australia? Here I just let the broody take care of everything. I don't mess with them at all.

IS THE BAD NEWS EVER GOING TO END?

This morning I raced down to the chicken coop expecting to see three tenny tiny fluffy chickies but instead I find one. the others gone without a trace. The other chickens ate them

I tried my best to make sure the others couldn't get in but obviously my best is not good enough. I am so mad, at the chickens and at myself. will this bad luck keep going.
Today I found out that if my SLW hen doesn't get better from her leg injury we will have to kill her.

and to make things worse while I was typing this the laptop just fell on the incubator. I will have to candle now to see if any eggs are cracked.

here is a picture from yesterday afternoon. As you can see the smashed up egg was pretty bad. The chick in this picture that I watched hatch is now dead, in one of my other chickens bellies.

Im so sorry to read what has happened.

I have 2 broodies at the moment and this morning found two eggs out of the nest broken. Both of them are first time mothers and reading of all you troubles has me worried about them. I hope you have better success next time around with them.

I don't know but I think in the future I will be sticking to the incubator, broodies are too much hard work

All the chicks are doing well. no more have been eaten.
