They are ALL GONE!

Geez, that really stinks. Maybe some are hiding that didn't get eaten/taken. I'd look around too. Really, really sorry this happened to you.

So Sorry you had to find that....has happened to me too--it is just too sad! CHeck around and see if you can find any hiding, then take a little rest to get over the sadness (a little) and start again. THat is all you can do! make sure your new accommodations are nice and strong. I have become much more vigilant of my new flock! Hugs to you! Terri O in WI

I wanted to thank you for all of the well wishes. I did search inside the yard ( about 1/2 acre ) I found one girl my BSL Misty, she came running up to me and she was fine. They would never hide from me unless they were too injured to move.

I did come home from taking my daughter to the bus stop this morning and found a dog coming INTO my yard with my roo in his mouth. I tried to run over him with my truck and jumped out trying to catch him but he took off. I found him a few minutes later next door and asked them if they knew whose dog it belonged to and they didn't know, he no longer had my roo in his mouth so he dropped him somewhere, I searched the woods where he ran but nothing yet...it had a collar on it medium sized black lab/mix very shy dog. I think he just found him already dead. That one dog could not have killed 5 fully grown chickens and 4 babies on his own.. I just don't understand how my dogs didn't alarm me or anything.

I don't understand why there are TONS of feathers and NO blood? It could have been a pack of wolves, coyotes or even a bear....I took some pictures....maybe you could help me?? I'm going to go out and do another search just in case but I can literally tell you whose feathers are whose. The chickens are inside the fence and about 3 feet off the ground in the coop. One door was open and they usually sleep on top of the coop. Whatever it was was big enough to jump on the runner maybe and pick them off one by one or and get the ones inside, I just don't know?? Thank God I have one lil' girl---bless her heart, she keeps looking for her family and sniffing the feathers--

I have to restart my computer but I'll post some pictures and please tell me what ya'll think????

I'm sorry to hear about your feathered friends.

But don't think that one dog couldn't do that much damage, they can.

Keep looking, it took us several hours of searching before we found our flock after a dog scattered them. We lucked out as he couldn't decide which of the moving targets to go after. Three of the girls lost most of their tail feathers, one of them had a couple of wounds, and another lost a lot of their downy feathers.

Luckily we interrupted things.

So sorry about your loss!

I had one of our fav. banty roos disappear without a trace a few days ago and now I've been diligently locking them up at night b/c I know whatever got him will be back for more! I know others have talked about electric fence??? I can't imagine staring over!
