When they are very young they do easily drown in water. Many have
suggested using marbles in the water to prevent this.

Hennys, you don't have to eat them. They make great pets and are fun
to watch. We've only eaten a few of the extra males. 12 hens and 4
roos(or whatever you call a male quail) will produce a ton of eggs for
eating and hatching.

My goldens will eat out of my hand.

I won't necessarily EAT them all. I do think they will be cool to have around. I own quite a few birds now that seem to have no purpose at all so really, these will be a notch above them.

Thanks so much PC for sending them to me. This has been a good experience for me. It turned out to be the best hatch I've had here percentage-wise.

So quail are as dumb as turkeys??? They sell quail waters that dont look like anything could get thier beak in to drink, but must be able to or there would be no quail left.

I keep stressing because I'm not sure mine know where the water is even though I dipped all their beaks in it (the tube waterer anyway- I removed the lid that the one drowned in.) I guess time will tell.

Drowning usually only happens the first few days and
only to weak chicks.

And turkeys are not stupid. Mine have genius IQs.

Still not sure if they know where the water is. Guess time will tell. This brooder has some wild temperature swings that I'm still trying to get stable.

I think you mean they have a genius IQ if you combine all thier IQ's together, that doesnt make a Gunius Flock

I went down to check eggs and possibly turn the incubator off and found another chick! Guess we'll not be making any hasty decisions there. That makes 29.
