What kind of water are you talking about? Well water? Municipal water?
And most important: I really hope nobody human is drinking it!

Do you have Prime because you have an aquarium? If so, a lot of filter pads contain charcoal. You could open one up for the charcoal in case of an emergency.

Activated Charcoal acts by absorbing chemicals and containing them not for coating anything It is used for human use in poisoning because it absorbs and holds the poison which will then be excreted with the charcoal.

In fish tank filters it helps to absorb ammonia, and nitrates and others.

If you get your water tested to find out what chemical you are dealing with, perhaps it might be one that would get filtered out by one of the water filter pitchers like Brita or Pure.

And I’d only give them bottled water or filtered water until you get your water situation figured out.

Is your chick starter medicated? You have to have unmedicated for waterfowl.

And your using prime to sort of leech out what your area is putting in water to kill something in their water system? If so why not buy bottled water until they are done?

Our water is super chlorinated. No, it is not medicated but it is not true that medicated will kill waterfowl.
