They have lights and sirens for a reason folks!

She won't be. She claims that she thought he was coming up behind her - he was headed north, she was headed east - so she rushed into the intersection to get out of the way. Guess her car didn't come with side view and rear view mirrors.

wow... this summer her have had 3 officers killed because people were not paying attention... crashed their cars... or hit them while they were on the side of the road... ..glad he is ok

people who have no respect for law enforcement should have their licence taken away for good... all of that was avoidable

I know exactly how you feel. When my hubby leaves for his shift I sometimes want to follow him and make him stay at home. Oh, I know the helpless feeling when a cop comes to the door and says he'll take you to the hospital where you husband was taken. More power to you, sister! Give that hubby a big whopping kiss from all of us!

Just darn lucky! Glad he is doing ok and hurry up with his retirement!

As for me, I don't hear sirens very well...I am deaf. So each time I am at the intersection, I would look both ways to make sure it is clear before I go ahead. Flashing lights behind me, no problem I see you!

I saw too many on police shows that too many officers and emergency personnels would get side swiped by wizzing cars. Not a good idea, get the farthest side of your lane safely and slow down! Particuarly highways.

thats now law in Ontario.. if you dont move over you can be fined.. they have been using dashboard cameras to track ppl who dont move over 1 lane... never mind to the furthest side of your lane..

Whats worse is the sirens bounces off the buildings and you can not determine where the sound is coming from.

I was once in a line of traffic due to an accident at this very same intersection. My DH was working the accident and the police chief was directing traffic because they were shorthanded that day. The chief waved me through the intersection, I was headed east, and a car coming from the north completely ignored the accident right in front of him, the police and EMTs on the scene and the chief directing traffic and drove right on through, nearly hitting me. Then he had the nerve to blare his horn at me, like I was in the wrong.

In the case of police directing traffic at an accident scene or whatever, you pay attention to the officers direction, not what the traffic signal says. It seems like common sense, but some people just don't get it.

I'm glad Keith is OK. As for the ................... lady, that is an excuse, not a reason. All that matters is that Keith us OK, though.

One time I was driving the car pool home (only one other person that day) when a siren (ambulance) came up behind me. I pulled over. The passenger said "What'd you do that for?" I said, "Because they are going to get your son."
