THEY HAVE SHIPPED!

Oh OK. I don't know who laid it though. Maybe you could help me figure it out?
It looks a lot lighter in my hand then beside the white egg.

Here are the chicken that could have laid it. They are 20 week and a couple days old.
Pepsi my Black sex link.

Pumpkin my Brown sex link.

Sweetie my Australorp.

I'm pretty sure it was either Pumpkin or Pepsi because Sweetie still has a tiny comb.
I'm suspicious that the one that laid the egg was laying out in the yard before this because yesterday was the only day I got a egg and that was the only day I was gone and the chickens had to stay in the coop all day.
I didn't seen any eggs today yet and it's 12:45 right now.

400

Got another egg! So now I think whoever been laying these eggs has been laying in the coop. The second egg is bigger.
The thing is though.....I found this egg after locking them in the coop when I had to leave.....that was at about 3:00 pm and now I just let them out again at 6:00 pm. I probably feel sure until eggs start being laid when they aren't locked in the coop.

Such an adventure trying to figure them out!!! I think next round of chickens I get I might do all different egg colors... (so it will be easier to figure out whos laying) hehe

Lightchick, good luck in figuring it out and Congrats on the egg!

stasichick, my parents raised me to be the way I am. My dad has been hunting as long as I can remember and when I got older I started helping wash the meat and wrap it for freezing and such. I definitely don't frown on anybodies choice on what they do with their animals. My decision was just based on how many years you can get out of a laying hen before production dies off. Not to mention I like to try and budget my money very well and I cannot justify feeding an animal I would be willing to eat if it doesn't do anything for me. I know most people would say the same thing about dogs and cats, but my dogs and cats help keep the mice out of the house and such, so they work for their meals.

On a funnier note I watched one of my little girls put one of my big girls in it's place the other day. The bigger one ran away so fast that it was quite funny to watch.

Yes i get it.... I am sure that is why we (my husband and I ) go back and forth talking about it!!

So funny about your little one putting the older in its place!! I love watching my little ones personalities come out!!!)

They are not so little anymore unfortunately. I try to get them out of the dog crate for about 20 minutes each morning to mingle with the older girls. I am hoping to have the crate out of there by next week. They are starting to get too big for it, so it can't stay in there forever. My little silver laced wyandotte is starting to get some of the lacing coming in and she's going to be beautiful. She also isn't as mean as she was as a chick, which is a plus. I still need to get some pictures of them. It surprises me to see them when they are out of the crate and next to the big girls, they are close in size.

You'll end up with an answer soon. If you didn't want to butcher them you could always try to find a farm that would take them and give them a place to live out their lives, I know there are some people out there that do that. That is always another option to consider.

I got some new things to tell you!

1. Pumpkin my Brown sex link is the one laying eggs.

2. The "second" egg that she laid had two yolks in it!

3. Both she and my Black sex link Pepsi started squatting yesterday.

4. I found out that Pumpkin DID have a hidden nest and I followed her to it and it had five eggs in it.

5. After I found it and took the eggs away I'm pretty sure she found a new place to hide them because when I followed her to it she was going to lay a egg, but then I came and took the eggs that were in there and she decided not to.
