Had my chickens playing in what is left of my garden yesterday! (the cold summer has not been kind to my garden)

Please post pictures when you get them, I have never heard of that breed. If you have a basement or a room that isn't used that often I would set them up there. Or even a garage. I wouldn't put them in the other brooders just in case. You can pretty much put them wherever you would like as long as the rest of your family is in agreement I would say, and as long as they aren't going to be threatened by any other animals you may have in that room.I'm expecting my first ever shipped chicks from a private breeder for 8 American white bresse. I'm so nervous I can't sleep and feel like I'm going to barf.
I've always gotten my chickens and chicks locally and have never had to deal with shipped chicks, and it's so cold out here today!
I picked up 6 ayam cemani and ayam cemani x orpington chicks on Sunday from my friend's flock, they are in my master bathroom. I have 6 x 5 week old ayam cemani & haffie (cemani x orpington) chicks in my brooder box in the barn. Where should I set up the bresse brooder box? Living room? Master bathroom? Barn? I'm worried about quarantine. I had thought to put them in the bathroom with my cemani/haffies. Since they are the same age. I have been a bad chicken keeper and not quarantined my new additions ever yet... so I'd hate to lose all 47 chickens I already have adding 8 more.
It's not so much cold here, we are actually still getting some days in the 80s every once and a while. My whole family is just sick right now and I only get sick about once a year, so my head gets really loopy when I am. But yeah I've gotten headaches from being out in the winter too long when it's way too cold to be out. Also, you are probably right to blame it on the cold. I know back when I lived in a place where it used to actually get cold, the icy wind would give people headaches.
What about a Marans mix? Her coloring reminds me an awful lot of the Golden Buff (red sex link) that I have. Hmm.. Whatever mix she is, she is absolutely gorgeous. I didn't notice the feathered feet until after you mentioned it and I looked at the picture again.I don't know. She has a pea comb and feathered legs. So I think she's some kind of Brahma mix.
She might have some Ameraucana in her, but I don't know....
I have read people with different opinions on quarantine. Some people believe in not doing it "survival of the fittess" then only they birds with resistance are rebred and that resistance is passed on to their offspring. Other people don't want the losses even if it means their next generation is more resistant!I'm expecting my first ever shipped chicks from a private breeder for 8 American white bresse.
