THEY HAVE SHIPPED!

I might have to try some barred rocks in a couple years when I go to replace most of my flock. It all depends on what these chicks end up with for personalities. I do know they all absolutely loved being outside the other day. I can't wait for the next sunny day here so I can take them out again.

I have been on the boat with the family since yesterday, we will be going home tomorrow. For now my sister is watching the animals. Some have grown a little bit more, I will give pics tomorrow hopefully :)

Can't wait to see the pictures. My little brahma is finally getting it's tail feathers and more wing feathers in. Hopefully a couple more weeks and they can be out in the coop with the bigger girls. I'm thinking next week I will start doing the play pen method with them during the day and supervised for a couple hours.

Another coop is my plan.  Unfortunately, my DW has put a moratorium on coop construction/flock expansion until I establish a solid system for tending them while we are out of town.

I have made a feeder from PVC pipe, and a 25 litre waterer. It is a plastic drum with 3 screw in chicken nipples underneath. It is so great! No more poop in food or water.

Hi! I've been following this thread and have really enjoyed it!
I just received my shipment from Ideal Poultry this morning with 11 Pullets! Unfortunately, they sent me one with a pretty severe cross beak and a missing right eye. I put a call into them and they apologized profusely, but they can't ship me out just one chick. Understandable, but disappointing. It absolutely should have been caught by the picker. I noticed it as soon as I opened the box. I'm pretty sad for my cross beak Wyandotte because she won't make if. :( Anyway, my shipment included:
6 Golden Laced Wyandottes
400

2 Red Stars
400

2 Salmon Favorelles
400

1 black Australorpe
400

I have been so excite to finish out my flock! 4 of the Wyandottes are going to my best friend to complete her flock.
I have 8 18-week Buff Orpington Pullets, 1 EE Roo, 3 blue Americaunas, and 1 Americauna Roo.
400

Can't wait to see them all feather out! This is my third batch of baby chicks since April! I may be done.... Maybe not though! :D

Congrats for the babies! :) Sorry for the cross beak Wyandotte though, it is sad :(. People on this thread are going to think I'm crazy, but I'm thinking about ordering 3 more baby chicks; Australorp, lavender orphington, and a mottled Cochin bantam, or maybe just a regular sized Cochin, these are all known to be friendly breeds, especially the Cochins :)

Chickmom sorry to hear about your wyandotte. I know first hand how sad it is to watch them not growing like the others do. The cross beak I had I finally put down at about 3 weeks of age, she was about half the size of her siblings. There is hope though you can always tube feed or help them eat. Your babies are absolutely adorable. If you get the chance could you post a couple pictures of your roos? I always like seeing the color varieties on the EEs and roos can be absolutely gorgeous. Backyardflock, trust me you are not crazy. I have been browsing meyers recently thinking if I just had the money I would order some more too, well the money and space. Hopefully next year I'm going to take an adventure into raising my own turkeys for thanksgiving. So go ahead and order those three chickens. And make sure you post pictures when you get them.

Is your Wyandotte eating? I think she has a chance. Someone on the forum had a chick hatch with a crossed beak and only one eye and that chick actually was doing pretty well!
